Here is an example from Melissa on how to SOAP journal!

S.O.A.P Bible Reading Journal

1.       Find the passage of scripture for the day.  Pray and ask the Holy Spirit to teach you and reveal more of Jesus to you.
2.       Read the passage.  As you are reading, underline anything the Lord impresses to your life as a personal word to be applied.  When you read with an open heart, the Lord will give you words of encouragement, direction and correction. (2 Tim. 3:16)
3.       When you’ve read through the passage and the Holy Spirit has revealed a special lesson of life to you, turn to a fresh page in your daily pages and record what God had just shown you.
*Enter the date
*Write out the key scripture.
*Write your observation about the scripture.
*Write out the application to your life.
*Record your prayer response.

EXAMPLE of Journal Entry:

9/1/14                                      “Hear O Israel”                                                    Deut. 6

Scripture: “Then it shall come about when the Lord brings you into the land which He swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to give you, great and splendid cities which you did not build, and houses full of good things which you did not fill, and hewn cisterns which you did not dig, vineyards and olive trees which you did not plant, and you shall eat and be satisfied.” 6:10-11

Observation:  I noticed the word “Then”.  These promises came to Israel after they had obeyed verses 4-9.  They had to hear and obey.  His promises have conditions sometimes.

Application: There are so many times that I focus on the promises of God without regard for my act in those being fulfilled in my life.  How important it is to HEAR and then OBEY.

Prayer:  Father, I want to hear your voice.  I want to know your statutes and direction for my life through the Word.  Help me to truly hear but also obey, to take you at your word and act upon it.  Thank you for the promises that are found in your word.  Thank you for always keeping your promises.  Empower me Father, to keep your word.  In Jesus name, Amen!

Keturah Walter

This week I share a part of my story with you. It's real, raw, and vulnerable. My hope is that it will point you to Christ and show you that freedom can be yours too! I will share how I dealt with sin since I was six years old, but didn't find freedom until I confessed to a friend. No matter who you are, we need God in our lives to overcome sin. You will hear of all the ways I tried to find freedom on my own strength and in my own plan but failed every single time. We so desperately need God to come in and show us the way to truth. I pray that my story will help light that way for you so that you can experience true freedom in your life. Listen and be encouraged, friends!  Link to the episode:  https://bit.ly/2BIP6IA Jamie Ivey's book:  https://ifyouonlyknewbook.net/ Lifehack: Get up early and do something you love to do before you have to start your day! Bekka Reid

My guest this week is Bekka Reid. She will share her story of how God brought her through a season of needing to come to the end of herself and fully rely on God. It's so encouraging to see how she pressed into God and did the hard work it took to grow. I know that all of you will be so inspired by her story and have probably found yourself here at one time. Her story is one of being faithful in the small, everyday, mundane things that take so much courage and strength to continue to do. She is raw and real about everyday life circumstances. No matter what season you find yourself in, you will be encouraged by what Bekka has to share!
